“When I was in architecture school I had an instructor that said “Consider the site!” No matter what questions any of us had regarding the assignment she would just simply keep stating “Consider the site!” Consider the site! Consider the site! We had to figure out what that meant. What she was talking about was taking into consideration the light, wind, views, and terrain… and traffic, streets, sidewalks, transit stations, proximity to emergency services and amenities, and… EVERYTHING.
Sometimes these things are important and influence the design of a project. Sometimes you are dealing with parameters that you just can’t leverage or take advantage of, and you just have to play with the cards you are dealt. But on every project, these things must always be considered and utilized to the greatest extent possible. And that is how we approach every project!”
